In conjunction with the SOMA Artists’ Studio Tour, ceramists will make beautiful objects in ways unique to their talents.
Sonya Selig and Lara Tomlin, multi-year winners of the Durand-Hedden Gingerbread House Contest, will conduct a workshop on creative approaches to making Gingerbread Houses.
See how the magic happens as more than 90 artists in two towns open their studios to visitors. Featuring new group venues and phenomenal art throughout the neighborhoods.

Get ready for a night full of laughter and creativity at this double-billed comedy show featuring two teen improv teams, Self-destructing Fun House and Chaotic Good!
These talented teen improv troupes, both trained by Rocket Improv and directed by Lulu French, will take the stage and showcase their quick wit and comedic genius. Guaranteed to delight you with their crazy make'em-ups and on-the-spot improvisation skills!

Dance the night away at the Adult School’s 90th Anniversary fundraiser!
A DJ will keep things moving with music from every decade since 1933. This fabulous evening will include drinks and hors d’oeuvres, a photo booth, silent auction, special guests, and lots of dancing and fun!
Three talented local ceramists will gather at Durand-Hedden for a day of pottery-making. Aimee Lally, Petra Pankow and Jennifer Evans Arbo will use their talents in different ways to form ceramic objects for utility and beauty.

This event raises money to support Meeting Essential Needs with Dignity, aka, MEND, Essex County's hunger relief network.
Ten strangers are summoned to a remote island. As the weather turns and the group is cut off from the mainland, the bloodbath begins and one by one they are brutally murdered in accordance with the lines of a sinister nursery rhyme. Presented by interACT Theatre Productions.

Joyce Carol Oates will headline this year's MAPSO Book Festival on Sunday, October 1, from 11AM-4PM.
Other featured adult authors: Mary Beth Keane, Laura Spence-Ash, Kim Coleman Foote, and local authors Ibi Zoboi, Laura Sims, Boo Trundle, and Eliza Minot.
Kid's area will feature 60 children's authors.

The 7th annual Robert J. Miller Oysterfest, featuring live outdoor music and food, is back!
This year five local restaurants participate in the Burger Bash. Judges will help decide who has the “Best Overall Flavor,” “Most Creative,” “Best Appearance/Presentation,” and “Best Toppings.”
This popular event and fundraiser has raised more than $100,000 to support awareness of Melanoma and provides essential funds for Melanoma research and MAPSO families in need.
A fundraiser for SOMA Stage, returning for the second year! All of the performers for the concert are local to the SOMA area. Performers include Jeremy Jordan, Mandy Gonzalez, Kara Lindsay and many more.
